How to Establish Your Internet Marketing Business on Review Sites
How to Establish Your Internet Marketing Business on Review SitesHas your business been reviewed online? The chances are it has been somewhere, and it’s more than likely your customers will be checking them out before buying from you. Consumers are becoming increasingly savvy and naturally want to ensure they’re getting the best for their money. Review sites are often the best way to get a (generally) unbiased view on the store, its service and the products – and people place a lot of trust in them. So, it’s in your business’ best interest to make sure you’re well established on review sites. So how do you go about making this the case? Get yourself on the map! If you’re not already listed on some of the major directories like Google+ Local and Yelp, now is the time to do so. Include your business location, opening hours, imagery and videos so that people can find out everything they need to know in one place. Google+ Local is especially important as it will enable your business to show in search results, and make sure you spend time on developing a strong Facebook page and profile which includes your business information too. Facebook is increasingly focusing on local search and with over 1.1 billion users, it’s definitely the place to be to get your business known and liked in your local area. Don’t forget LinkedIn too, which allows users to make recommendations and write reviews. Encourage feedback Always request feedback, testimonials or reviews from your customers. You could do this in a follow up email after the sale or have an easily accessible comment box/review system on your website to allow customers to leave their thoughts. When you receive a good review, make sure it’s published! There’s no point in getting them if potential customers can’t see them. Resolve negative reviews The problem is that there’s no real right or wrong way to deal with negative reviews. Sometimes the customer will just be a grumpy, can’t-please-me type of person, whereas other negative feedback may be genuine. The only wrong thing to do is ignore them completely; the only exception being an internet troll who is just dying for a reaction. Apologise to the customer, either directly or as a response on the review site (if applicable) or personally – even both. Some people might be scornful but they’ll appreciate the gesture all the same, and if your response can be seen on a review site it’ll probably improve potential customers’ opinion of your business. Negative reviews are pretty much unavoidable; even some of the best companies have a few! The good side is that negative feedback proves your reviews are genuine and unbiased, not just a few of your friends helping you out. Use reviews as an internet marketing strategy Your reviews and feedback should be easily available to your site visitors. Add a ‘testimonials’ or ‘what our customers say’ tab to your main menu bar and keep it updated with the latest; you’ll lose credibility if the last review was months ago! If you regularly receive good reviews, consider adding a live feed to a side bar so all users can see it. It’s an effective internet marketing strategy and incites confidence and trust in your brand, which all customers like to see.
