We’ve all experienced a bit of a social media burnout now and then – whether it’s when we’re updating our work profiles or our personal ones, sometimes you become stuck for ideas, hit a brick wall, or simply can’t keep up with the pace. To avoid social media burnout, our social media marketing team have put together a few tips that can help you stay focussed, motivated and with your eyes on the prize… Don’t spread yourself too thin We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – when it comes to social media it’s often better to be really good on one platform than mediocre on several. Don’t over commit to the channels you’re using – while it’s great to target different platforms, think about it realistically – do you have the time to update them all on a daily basis? Can you give interaction the attention it deserves? If you can’t, focus on just one (i.e. Facebook) and work on creating a strong presence there before you branch out. Plan your time and think ahead Planning your time properly is a great way to make sure your engagement is effective. You don’t have to be connected 24/7 – simply allocate an amount of time, for example 30 minutes, to looking after your key channels each day. Once you’re used to spending an allotted time period working on your accounts, start to plan ahead. Preparing for events or simply compiling an agenda for the week ahead will ensure your social media is well thought out and informative. Think about your strengths If you’re a better talker than you are a writer, why not record video blogs and upload them to YouTube? If you’re full of one-liners – utilise Twitter! Play to your strengths and you’ll find that social media becomes a lot easier.
