AdWords Conversion Import Uses Unique ID Codes to Track SalesGoogle AdWords has launched a brand new tool called ‘AdWords Conversion Import’ which allows you to track offline sales and deals. It works like this: Each click on your AdWord ad is given a unique identification number which is stored as a cookie. If they make a purchase on the site it goes through as a conversion automatically; but if they don’t and fill in a contact form instead, for example, the unique ID is saved in your database. Then when your Sales team follows up the lead and makes a sale, the customer sends a signed purchase order by email back to your company, which will associate the unique ID with a sale. The purchase is then inputted into your AdWords account and is added as a conversion to your report. The graphic on the left provides more detail on how it works.
