More Informative Search Results: Google’s New Feature is Tested
More Informative Search Results: Google’s New Feature is Tested2013 has been all about new features for Google, from providing in-depth articles, searching with images and offering local listings relevant to your search in a carousel at the top of the results page. The latest feature that Google are now testing is to provide more information in search results – but facts about the website, not the page listed. When a user clicks on the site name, a snippet of information appears which is pulled from third party sources such as Wikipedia – not the site itself. Take a look at the screenshot on the left to see an example.
A Snippet of Company Info Will Be Shown in Google’s ResultsThe new search feature is just being tested at the minute so it hasn’t been rolled out fully. It’s all part of Google’s commitment to provide more useful and informative search results, so the chances are it will end up becoming a standard feature. At the moment, there would have to be a Wikipedia article about your site for the snippet to show but it’s likely this will change when the feature is fully rolled out. For now, that’s all we know about the new feature but we’ll keep you up to date as we find out more. Here at MonkeyFish Marketing we think Google’s new feature is a fantastic way for users to learn more about a company from an impartial source. It helps to build trust and can help to reinforce your company’s message or aim, so it’s well worth ensuring you can provide that snippet of information.
