We Still Have a Lot to Cover: What’s Next for Apple?When Apple sends out a cryptic invite to an event, you can pretty much guarantee that there’s a product launch on the horizon. The invitation to the latest event, held in San Francisco today, simply said: ‘We still have a lot to cover,’ with the Apple logo under a shower of colourful leaves.
An Apple for ChristmasAnalysts expect a new iPad to be announced, as the tablet market is heating up with devices from rivals Microsoft and Google. With the Christmas shopping season just around the corner, you can bet that whatever Apple announce, it’s on plenty of people’s wish lists for Christmas. But how will Apple compete with the increasingly competitive range of tablets already on the market? NPD analyst Steven Baker said: ‘Job one for Apple is to get something out there on the large size iPad that gets people excited, then obviously from a specification focus, the Mini needs to catch up with what everybody else has done. There are a lot of things happening in that large size tablet space and there is a huge choice of smaller devices.’
It’s Thought a New Full Sized and Mini iPad Will Be AnnouncedWith the new Kindle Fire HDX and Google Nexus 7 already expected to be a top seller this Christmas, it’s thought that Apple will introduce a thinner, lighter larger sized iPad with an improved camera. An iPad Mini with an improved screen could also be on the cards, according to analysts. While the iPad is still the largest selling tablet, its market share is being eroded by tablets using Google’s Android operating system so the company are no doubt preparing to claim the share back.
