The Online Marketing Hit List for a Happy Holiday Season
Now that Halloween is over, it’s time for businesses to get their festive marketing strategies into gear. For most companies, a significant chunk of their marketing campaigns will be taking place online – and if they’re not, they should be! Whether you’re a local bar, restaurant or a niche store, in 2015 there is no excuse not to be utilising digital to improve your presence and increase your revenue. Now, that doesn’t mean throwing a huge wad of cash at a PPC campaign. Small simple changes can make a huge difference to your festive success online, which we have summed up here to make sure your Christmas will definitely be merry!
The Holiday Hit List
GO MOBILE – it’s in capital letters for a reason! For most people, their smartphone is an essential shopping companion and they will use it to find local shops, search for products or even find the nearest bar or coffee shop for a well-earned rest from shopping. If your website is too difficult to use on a mobile, people will leave – it’s as simple as that. Mobile is no longer an option: it’s mandatory. So do yourself a favour and make sure your website is mobile responsive. Spend time on SEO – spend some time to make sure your website titles, descriptions and images are optimised for your target keywords. It might be the bare-minimum SEO requirement but every little helps. Love local – have you updated your local listings lately? Christmas is a great time to do it; update your images, opening hours and store information if necessary to ensure anyone in your local area can easily find you. Be smart on social – any, and we mean any, business can embrace social. It’s just a case of finding the right platform. For many businesses, Facebook and Twitter are a great place to start but if you’re more visual, Instagram and Pinterest should be high on your hit list too. Revive your accounts, post great content and holiday promotions, set up a low-cost social ad campaign...there are plenty of free and budget ways for businesses to utilise social media. Help your customers find you – this means more than having your address on your website and social accounts, though of course that’s essential too. But if you’ve ever had an unsuccessful journey thanks to a satnav, (haven’t we all?) it becomes clear that an address isn’t always enough. So consider embedding a Google Map into your contact page to let customers plan their route. Mention local parking, public transport routes or local landmarks that will help customers find you.
